This tool uses recipes (apps) to connect different apps and tools to create efficient workflows.

They are seen as a “chain reaction”. That is, when you perform an action in this tool, another action will occur in this tool and is related to the action you just performed.

While it only takes a few seconds, it’s one of those things that has a positive impact on the entire workload after just a few uses. If you incorporate 10 to 15 recipes into your workload, you’ll both save time and be more productive.

It is possible to combine many tools together for many different purposes. No matter what industry or industry your business is in, these recipes can be applied.

Some basic applications where you can use recipes:

IFTTT recipes used to run for a blog

In my experience over the years, the bigger the blog, the harder it is to maintain effectively.

Because you have to spend a lot of time and energy on it. Besides, it also pulls you in many different directions. Therefore, I use IFTTT to offload that stress.

In this section, I will demonstrate the true potential of IFTTT by sharing the IFTTT recipes that I use to automate my daily marketing activities.

RSS Feed + Evernote = Auto Sort Content

First, let’s take a look at 2 new concepts: RSS Feed and Evernote

RSS feed is an RSS news reader program that allows readers to view the latest news from other websites without having to go directly to that website. And Evernote is an application for taking notes, organizing, task management, and storage.

Every month, I will extract the Income Report Roundup of bloggers to track their earnings progress. But I didn’t need to do any research to get that report.

Instead, I simply use a recipe to send the information I need directly to my Evernote app every month.

To accomplish this, I create an If This (if this)= “if an article is added to my RSS feed with the keyword Income Roundup”, it will trigger the process:


Then, I connect it to my Evernote to create a linked note with all the relevant articles – articles that I get at the end of the month.

This means I don’t need to waste hours trying to find relevant content.

WordPress + Evernote = Blog posts backed up

A really necessary and important thing to do is to back up your blog posts. To prevent your website from having unexpected problems or hackers deleting all the content on your website, you should have a backup copy for this situation.

I recommend using IFTTT to back up the latest WordPress posts to the Evernote database.

The first step is to connect your WordPress account to IFTTT, then choose a new blog post-trigger.

Then you have to connect your Evernote account and let it automatically back up when it’s active. Thanks to that, you don’t need to do anymore, but your blog posts are backed up.

RSS Feed + Email / Text = Show First Comment

Comments (aka Comments) on a blog may not provide the best benefit or profit from SEO. But this is a great opportunity for your website to be exposed to more users.

The best way to do this is to be one of the first to comment on a new post.

And luckily, this task is quite simple. First, you visit the website you want to leave a comment on. You enter “/feed/” at the end of the website URL. Eg:

You then add the URL to your RSS feed as an If This trigger. Note that you need to check if the website has an RSS feed before adding its URL to the RSS feed.

Depending on the importance of your website, you can set up notifications to be emailed to you immediately or texted to your phone.

When the website is large and has high traffic, I will choose to receive messages directly to my phone. But if it’s less well-known sites, I’ll set it up to receive email updates and see it as soon as I see the need.

Competitor Email + Evernote = Competitor Insights

Email marketing is extremely important for blogging. That’s where every purchase, every interaction takes place and even generates revenue.

And your competitors know it too.

That means if you can research your competitors’ emails you’ll know exactly what they’re targeting, what audiences, and what ads they’re running, and maybe you’ll get some ideas from that information.

This also helps you to know more about your affiliate options, copywriting lessons, and when your competitors are about to run a big promotion.

First, you need to select your email client as the If This trigger, then select the “New email in inbox from option” item:

Use Evernote as a trigger on the Then that side to automatically archive key competitor emails directly into the Evernote app.

You can even populate the Google Spreadsheet with everything to create a database of relevant marketing emails. This makes it easier to find emails.

How to use IFTTT

Using IFTTT is very easy:

  1. First you need to create an IFTTT account and log in
  2. See if there’s an Applet recipe available that suits your needs
  3. If yes, enable it. If not, create your own recipe
  4. Choose a service and activator for your Applet
  5. Select the action you want and then click the “create action” button

Let’s learn more about the 5 steps above:

You have 2 options when using IFTTT: use a recipe that the developers have already created or create your own.

I will provide detailed instructions on how to create the right recipe to make it easier for you to perform everyday tasks more efficiently.

Next, create the If this clause first, then create the then that clause by connecting the 2 tools.

Let’s say you want to perform a daily to-do action but you tend to forget it. You can create an IFTTT recipe to send you a reminder every day.

First, click on the text of this clause and select the time service: date and time:

You can then select the event you want to trigger this submission. For example, I choose “Every day at” (every day at specific times)

Next, I set a specific time for this activation process to take place.

I have set the 9 am mark and at exactly 9 am this IFTTT recipe will be triggered to take action.

You won’t need to click on the text of that part

And from this list of tools, you can choose which apps you use to receive notifications. But it’s better to use email to get reminders. Therefore, you should connect this account to your Gmail account.

However, you can also set up to receive SMS messages by phone, new notes in Evernote alerts in the Calendar app, or whatever app you use often.

On the next page, I’ll choose the action I want to take, for example, send me an email:

Next, I will fill in the details that I want to receive. For example, please continue to follow the emails I have sent (follow-up emails).

Click the Create Action button. And as a result, at 9 am the next day, I get a reminder in my inbox.
